In 2025, McKvr Sportswear embarked on a landmark venture, launching its inaugural performance range in partnership with Gaelic football’s most transcendent talent, David Clifford. This was more than a signature collection; it was a strategic brand-defining moment. The mission was to harness Clifford’s iconic status not merely to sell apparel, but to architect a new premium category within Irish sportswear.
The ambition was clear, to create a culturally resonant and commercially powerful campaign that would elevate McKvr to a national stage, forging an identity comparable to global athlete endorsements and establishing a legacy that resonated far beyond the boundaries of a single county.
Challenge.
McKvr faced the strategic challenge of launching its inaugural performance range with legendary footballer David Clifford. The primary business objective was to create a campaign and product line with genuine national appeal across Ireland, moving beyond his iconic Kerry supporter base to ensure commercial viability at scale. Success depended on crafting a brand message that transcended regional loyalty, resonating with a universal athletic ethos shared nationwide. The ambition was to position this first collection as comparable in prestige and desirability to established national and global athlete collaborations.
This required building a sophisticated, inclusive brand identity from the outset, one that celebrated Clifford’s unique excellence while connecting it to a broader story of dedication and performance that every Irish athlete and aspirant could claim as their own. The campaign needed to be iconic not for where he is from, but for the timeless mindset he represents.

The "Never Once" campaign directly solves the core commercial challenge by strategically elevating David Clifford from a Kerry football legend into a universal symbol of Irish resilience and obsessive pursuit of greatness. By focusing not on county colours, trophies, or rivalries, but on the raw, solitary, and repeated act of his iconic kick, the campaign taps into a shared national identity built on grit, dedication, and silent work ethic. This philosophy transcends sport, resonating with anyone, from a student studying for exams to a musician mastering an instrument, who understands that mastery is born from repetition.
The cinematic, premium aesthetic and the "Own Every Battle" payoff position McKvr not as provincial merchandise, but as a sophisticated, performance-driven brand worthy of comparison to global sportswear giants. Thus, the campaign transforms Clifford from a regional hero into a national archetype, making the range a symbol of a shared mindset, not a county, ensuring broad commercial appeal across Ireland.
Result.
The campaign delivered strong commercial and brand performance across retail, trade, e-commerce, and digital channels. In total, the activity generated significant sales, including £14,000 across the Lurgan and Crossmaglen stores, £208,000 through trade partners (large and independent retailers), and £159,000 via the website. Organic social media activity drove substantial brand visibility, achieving over 1.7 million views overall, with 570,000 views on X, 558,000 on Instagram, 331,000 on Facebook, 245,000 on TikTok, and 20,000 on YouTube.
Paid media further accelerated results, particularly across Meta platforms, which delivered 1.5 million impressions and 38,475 clicks from a £5,035 investment. This activity generated 1,480 purchases and £79,180 in revenue, achieving an exceptional 15.7x return on ad spend and a low cost per acquisition of £3.40. TikTok ads also performed efficiently, delivering 1.3 million impressions and 6,233 clicks from a modest £900 spend, reinforcing the campaign’s ability to drive both awareness and cost-effective traffic at scale.
